Grassboots.
Grassboots aims to support families in the North East by providing them with new, or nearly new, sports and school footwear and clothing.
The heart behind this project is to support families and young people in a practical way. We believe that every family and child deserves a chance to get involved in sports and education. The footwear and clothing Grassboots provides will enable them to participate in grass roots sport, outdoor play, school and other activities.
With connections to different sports centres across the north east, the team are able to get collections of shoes, trainers and clothes on a regular basis. These are then brought into our compassion centre where they can be sorted and distributed by our brilliant team of volunteers.
This project is growing all the time and we are in the process of developing an online catalogue so Pop-Up and Byker Pantry members can order shoes at any of our locations.
Grassboots, indirectly support families caught in food insecurity, as money they save on shoes and clothing can be invested in food and energy bills.
